Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How can we help you?

At Anderson Family Dental, we love hearing from our patients and educating them about their oral health. Below, we have collected some of the questions we hear most often. If your question is not addressed here, or if you would like further details, we would love to hear from you.

At Anderson Family Dental, your Winter Park dentist wants you to get the dental care you need and deserve, which is why we collect payment at the time of your visit but are always willing to bill your PPO insurance company on your behalf.

We also help you make the most of your insurance benefits by navigating the language of your policy, working with your insurance company, and letting you know what is reimbursable according to the policy’s language.

Additionally, we always let you know the cost of your treatment up front and will not move forward with your dental care until you feel comfortable with the fees and your respective treatment. With us, there are never any billing surprises.

Apart from insurance, we also accept CareCredit, which is a healthcare credit card that allows you to get the treatments you want or need without the limitations imposed by many insurance providers. With CareCredit, the online application process is easy, and it takes only minutes to learn whether you are approved. This healthcare credit card allows you to make interest-free monthly payments.

We also accept cash, checks, and most major credit cards.

If you’re looking for quality dentistry in Winter Park, we look forward to meeting you.

At Anderson Family Dental, we always want our patients to get the treatments and services they want and deserve, which is why we accept a variety of payment plans, including cash, credit cards, and checks. And we also accept CareCredit because it allows our patients to make easy and convenient payments without interest.

You can use CareCredit anywhere it is accepted—this includes medical offices, dental offices, and even select veterinary clinics. It can be used for doctor-recommended treatments and elective procedures, including cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics.

CareCredit is a healthcare credit card that offers monthly payment plans and zero percent interest to qualified patients and families—provided you make payments on time and within the timeframe provided by the lender.

You apply for CareCredit online, and decisions typically take only a few minutes. You learn your credit limit and credit terms while you wait. A member of our team can walk you through the simple application process. Upon approval, CareCredit sends you your healthcare credit card so you can begin treatment.

If you have any questions about CareCredit, payment options, or our dental treatments and procedures, contact a member of our friendly team today. We always look forward to speaking with our patients and addressing their concerns.

Dental Implants

Since they are as close to a natural tooth as you can get, dental implants in Winter Park have the potential to provide exceptional longevity. With the proper care, tooth implants can serve patients for many years, even a lifetime, in some cases.

A dental infection is ultimately the enemy of a dental implant and could cause an implant to fail. This is why an impeccable home care routine with brushing twice daily and flossing once is essential. You can brush and floss easily around your implant, so sticking to an excellent home care routine shouldn't be difficult.

Regular checkups with your Winter Park dentist every six months are another critical aspect of caring for your dental implant. Your dentist will take x-rays annually to ensure your implant is healthy and adequately supports your new tooth. Your dentist will be able to detect any problems early if they should arise when it's easier to treat your implant.

Due to their excellent longevity, dental implants in Winter Park are a smart long-term investment for many people. You will have to consider replacing other tooth replacement appliances like dentures or bridges over time.

If you have a question about Winter Park dental implants, call our team at (407) 644-5454.

The cost of dental implants can range significantly in price, depending on a number of factors. The first is the type of implant you choose. The most common type is the titanium screw implant, which offers a high success rate and can be used to support a single tooth, multiple teeth, or even an entire denture. However, this option is also the most expensive, typically costing between $2,000 and $3,000 per tooth. An alternative to the titanium screw implant is the zygomatic implant, which is anchored in the cheekbone and can support an entire upper denture. This option is less expensive than the titanium screw implant. However, it is less "biocompatible" than the titanium screw implant, which means it is less compatible with the human body.

The final factor that will affect the cost of your dental implant is the number of implants you need. The more implants you require, the higher the overall cost will be. However, multiple implants can also offer significant savings by eliminating the need for a traditional denture or bridge.

Anderson Family Dental provides a range of tooth replacement options, but dental implants are considered the gold standard. They are long-lasting and the closest tooth replacement option to replicating your natural teeth. If you are considering dental implants in Winter Park, we will discuss all of your options with you to make sure that you choose the best one for your smileand your budget!

Root Canals

If your dentist recommends a root canal, it means you have a deep root infection in your tooth. When the root and pulp of a tooth are infected, it can be excruciating. The infection can also spread.

In some cases, if the infection is only emerging, or if the nerve is not viable, you may not feel pain, but your dentist in Winter Park will find the infection during a routine exam.

If you do show symptoms, typically they include:

  • Toothache or increased tooth sensitivity
  • Jaw pain and swelling
  • A blister on the gum

The root canal treatment is very straightforward. Your dentist thoroughly numbs the area around your tooth, gently extracts the infected root and pulp, and closes the tiny hole with a temporary filling. At your next appointment, we provide a permanent filling or a dental crown—we recommend the latter if the infection has left your tooth weak and vulnerable to cracking.

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that goes over your tooth. It is colored to blend in with your teeth, and we offer CEREC same-day crowns in our dental office.

If you have one or more symptoms of a root infection, or if you would like to schedule an exam, contact a member of our team today.

Sedation Dentistry

At Anderson Family Dental, we always want you to feel at ease while under our care. And if you suffer from dental anxiety, we want to change the conversation for you and make dentistry a positive experience. For these reasons, we offer nitrous oxide and sedation dentistry in Winter Park.

Nitrous oxide is a safe gas for patients of all ages; it is sometimes referred to as laughing gas. It produces feelings of ease and detachment so you can get the dental care you need.

We deliver nitrous oxide through a small nasal mask. When we remove this mask, the effects subside, and you can drive yourself home from our dental office.

Sedation dentistry means you take a pill approximately one hour before your dental appointment. Many patients do not remember their treatment, but they are still able to follow suggestions made by the dentist during their procedure. With this option, you need a ride to and from our dental office.

In some cases, Dr. Anderson may opt to combine these options if you’re feeling especially anxious.

If you’re looking for dentistry from a gentle team coupled with sedation dentistry in Winter Park, contact a member of our dental team today.

Tooth Extractions

Recovery from a tooth extraction is fairly quick. But, there are a few things you can do to help ensure a speedy and comfortable recovery.

Most people will experience some level of discomfort after having a tooth extracted, but the good news is that the recovery process is usually short. First, be sure to follow Dr. Anderson's instructions for caring for the extraction site. This usually involves taking it easy for a day or two, gently rinsing the area with warm water, and avoiding hard or crunchy foods. You may also need to take over-the-counter pain medication as directed.

So, if you're wondering how long it will take to recover from a tooth extraction, the answer is: it depends. In most cases, the discomfort from an extraction should start to subside within a couple of days. However, it can take up to a week for the extraction site to fully heal. But with proper care, you should be able to fully recover from your tooth extraction in no time.

If you have wisdom teeth that are bothering you or a badly damaged tooth, we perform tooth extractions in our Winter Park, FL office. Anderson Family Dental will be with you every step throughout the extraction process to ensure your comfort and help restore your wellness and well-being.
